Synthetic Winch Line Drum Attachment

Viking synthetic winch lines come with a special drum attachment to secure line to the drum, if you have a winch that used a battery style terminal end from the winch manufacturer then our special drum attachment will work on your winch. If you have Superwinch or any winch with a hole drilled into the drum please see instructions below. If your winch has a hold drilled into the drum but not all the way through you will need to drill the hole through the drum, make sure you check with the winch manufacturer to ensure this is recommended. On the Superwinch EP and EPi the hole is drilled most of the way through and it takes very little effort to drill through, we have verified with Superwinch that this is alright to do.

1) For winches with a hole drilled into the drum; if you have 5/16" synthetic winchline go to step 4, if you have 3/8" synthetic winchline you need to take three strands about 6" long out of the line. Cut 3 strands about 8" from the end.		2) Remove the three strands. Line is made up of 12 strands so you will have 9 strands left, this should allow the end to pass through the drum, if you can't get it through you can trim one or two more strands out.
3) After 3 strands have been taken out of the last 6" of the 3/8" line should be about the size of 5/16"		4) Pass end of line through hole in drum, pull enough line through so it reaches the side of the drum. Tape end down and you are ready to wind the line on. (make sure you wind the line around the bottom of the drum) Click on picture for larger view
Your winchline will come with this special drum attachment, if you have a Superwinch or another winch with a hole drilled in the drum take this drum attachment off and follow the above instructions. If you have the bolt on style drum follow these instructions when attaching your winchline.		Using the supplied bolt, attach the fastener end of the winchline to the winch-drum.
Use Duct Tape™ to secure the excess rope to the drum.		Wrap the winchline onto the drum using moderate to high tension in order to achieve a secure fit. (make sure you wind the line around the bottom of the drum)
