Spotter Lines

Spotter Lines came about from competition Rock Crawling, where the object is to drive over extremely difficult and uneven terrain...with a few other rules to boot. This is where "spotters" are used to visually communicate with the driver where his/her wheels and axles are relative to the rocks. This is particularly important for vehicles with smaller tires and exposed body panels that should remain in tact for work on Monday. But for rock buggies or UTV's is about getting through the obstacle.
This is where the spotter line comes in. When a vehicle is precariously perched on a rock and possibly about to roll over, or if it simply needs a little human assistance from the spotter the spotter line is the necessary tool. Often its a surprisingly little amount of extra force needed to help a vehicle conquer and obstacle or keep it from rolling over, so a spotter with a good spotter line is can make the difference between winning or getting through an obstacle.

Recently we have found these to be extremely useful and popular for lighter vehicles such as UTV's where human force makes more difference on a lighter vehicle than a heavy one.

Spotting and using a spotter line is inhernetly dangerous, in competition the minimum distance one can stand is 15' from the vehicle, or there is a penalty. It is probably a good rule of thumb for recreational use, but one must use common sense and stay off and away from vehicles in case they roll over or shift. Never tie off to a spotter line or any rope in any way to a vehicle. Spotter Lines are also known as Spotter Ropes or Spotter Straps.

UTV Spotter Line

The UTV Spotter Line is a basic setup without a hook or thethers. There is one eye or loop on the opposite end that is large enough to thread the handle through to secure it to a roll bar. These spotter lines are designed for recreational UTV-ATV use and do not meet Rock Crawling rules due to the lack of hook and tethers.

The Pro Spotter Line is a complete setup with hook or thethers. These spotter lines are designed for recreational UTV-ATV use and while they do meet competition Rock Crawling requirements we recommend the Rock Crawling ones. The Pro line comes with two tethers (one shown), a Safety Hook and heavy duty Handle.
